Rose Calabrese

 Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, 92

Rose Calabrese (nee Gesumaria) passed away suddenly, but peacefully, on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Morristown Medical Center.  Her loving daughters Margaret Calabrese and Joan Palumbo, along with her son-in-law Jay Palumbo were present to comfort her as she passed.

Rose was born and raised in Newark,New Jersey’s Ironbound section along with her siblings Angelina Condito, John Gesumaria, Joseph Gesumaria, Concetta Russo, Giacomo (Jake) Gesumaria and Victoria Zecchino, all of whom predeceased her.

She was married to Goffredo (Al) Calabrese (predeceased) for 66 years and had three children, Louise, (predeceased), Margaret and Joan.  During their marriage they lived in Newark.  They moved to Bloomfield, NJ in 1966 and retired to Toms River, NJ in 1987.  Rose was presently living with her daughter Margaret in Morristown, NJ.

Rose is survived by her loving daughters Margaret and Joan and son-in-law Jay; her beloved granddaughters Jennifer Burden, Jessica Gonzalez and their husbands Craig and Manuel; her five great-grandchildren who she adored and loved beyond words, Marco Gonzalez, Mateo Gonzalez, John Burden, Giavanna Burden and Nico Gonzalez; her sisters-in-law Madeline Gesumaria and Leslie Gesumaria; and also her numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue.  Visitation will be on Sunday, November 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  There will be a funeral mass celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley on Monday, November 13 at 10:45 a.m.   The entombment will be at Gate of Heaven Chapel Mausoleum, East Hanover.
