Beloved Husband, Father, Brother, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather 84
Mr. Robert Paul Romano, 84, of Glen Ridge, NJ, passed away on Friday, September 30, 2022 at the Chilton Medical Center Pompton Plains, NJ. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Tuesday, October 4th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. There will be a funeral service celebrated at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 5th at 1:00 p.m. The cremation will be held privately.
Mr. Romano was born in Newark, NJ to parents who emigrated from Italy. He was a successful entrepreneur starting his own business, Comus International, in 1978. Comus started as a manufacturer of glass mercury tilt-switches for residential and commercial thermostats. Mr. Romano patented the first ever non-mercury tilt switch and built the company into an international conglomerate that spanned multiple continents and employed hundreds of people. He was an industrious, intelligent and very generous man beloved by the people he worked with.
Mr. Romano was an incredible father and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed cooking, spending time in his yard, and watching the Yankees and Giants. He will be unbelievably missed.
He is survived by his beloved former wife of 61 years Rose Marie (nee Venezzio) Romano, his devoted children Joseph Romano, Michele Rollo and her husband John, Nicole Romano and her husband Tariq Merhab, and Angelo Romano; his cherished grandchildren Robert, Michael, Frankie, Tommy, Ava Rollo, and his cherished great- granddaughter Genevieve Rollo. He is also survived by his many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mr. Romano is predeceased by his parents Angelo and Rachel (nee Vincelli) Romano, and his siblings Anthony, Rae, Jonny, Mario, Norma, Nita, Lillian and Angelo, Jr. Romano.
