Beloved Father and Grandfather
Mr. Richard J. Zurichin, 87, of Lincoln Park, New Jersey, passed away on Saturday, November 13, 2021 surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at SS Peter & Paul Russian Orthodox Cathedral, 200 – 3rd Street, Passaic on Saturday, November 20 at 9:00 a.m. The interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield with military honors.
Mr. Zurichin was born in Passaic, NJ and resided in Lincoln Park since 1973. He was a Physical Education Teacher and Coach in the Passaic City School District ending his career at Roosevelt School #10 in 2008. Mr. Zurichin served honorably in the United States Army. He earned his Bachelor Degree from Seton Hall University, South Orange where he was a pitcher and outfielder for the Seton Hall University Baseball Team. Mr. Zurichin played semi-pro baseball for the DeMuro Comets, and was a competitive softball player into his 70’s. Mr. Zurichin represented New Jersey in the Senior Olympics held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
He is survived by his beloved children Keith Zurichin and his wife Lisa, Brian Zurichin and his wife Lisa, and Dana Taranto and her husband Frank; his cherished grandchildren Dominic, Benjamin, Carter, Kyle, Olivia, and Alexis; his dear sisters-in-law Lisa Guerriero and her husband Angelo, and Denise DeVito and her husband Salvatore, and his dear brother-in-law Charles Cerami; and also his many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Zurichin is predeceased by his wife Carol A. (nee Cerami) Zurichin (May 28, 2021), and his parents John and Jean (nee Kovalcik) Zurichin, and his sister-in-law Ruth Cerami.
