Mrs. Renee (nee Bernardo) Nodar, 67, of Mt. Laurel, NJ, formerly of Nutley passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue, on Friday, December 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, December 23 at 9:00 a.m. There will be a funeral mass celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 120 Prospect Street, Nutley at 10:00 a.m. The interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 712 Grove Street, Upper Montclair.
Renee was born in Newark, NJ and resided in Mt. Laurel for many years. She attended New York University and ended her over 25-year career in the banking industry as Vice President, Mortgage Officer at Acre Mortgage, Marlton, NJ. Licensed in many states across the country, she dedicated her career to helping people, often those underserved by their communities, to purchase houses they would turn into homes.
Her true passion was the ballet - she grew up as a ballerina and piano prodigy, learning at Juilliard, competing at Carnegie Hall, and building a career playing for many studios, including Princeton Ballet. Her happy place continued to be playing the grand piano in her home and frequenting the New York City Ballet.
Renee enjoyed the fine arts, a bold glass of red wine, and traveling the world - especially to Aruba and France. She spent most of her time cheering on any and all Philadelphia sports teams, and listening to Bruce Springsteen and Van Halen. She adored her children, family, and friends, always seeking out to make everyone around her happy.
She will always be remembered for her infectious smile, how kind, loving, and fabulous she was, and for hosting the most memorable events. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved her.
Renee is survived by her husband Robert Nodar, her devoted children: Dr. Henry Schoonyoung and his wife, Tiffany, Samuel Schoonyoung and his wife, Sarah, Gina Nodar and her fiancé, Dr. Michael Catanzaro, Janelle Nodar and her fiancé, Jonathan Baez, and Robert Cornelius Nodar; her cherished grandchildren: Matthew, Nathan, and Isabel Schoonyoung; her loving sisters: Sharon Wright and her husband, Donald, and Karen Mangravito; and her dear nephew, Michael Mangravito.
