Patricia Chmiel
Beloved Sister and Aunt, 71
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the untimely passing of Patricia Chmiel who passed away suddenly on Friday, October 20, 2023. There will be a funeral service celebrated at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Friday, October 27 at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. The interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.
We will miss Patti’s kindhearted, wonderful free-spirited nature that entertained children and adults alike. She had an artistic flair for photography, candle and jewelry making, graphic art as well as a green thumb gardener. Her profession was a copy editor and over the years she was employed with the Bayonne Community News, the Herald News NJ and Fairchild Publications in NYC. Most recently she worked for the Kohls Store in Woodland Park and Montclair YMCA teaching craft classes in their local before/after-care school program just before retiring.
She had a lifetime of rescuing and caring for shelter pets and presently enjoyed the companionship of her dog Rusty and cat Dharma.
Patti is survived by her sister Madeleine Chmiel and her brothers Frank, Edward and Ted Chmiel.
“Aunt Patti” is survived by her many loving nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews as well as great-great-nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly.
She is predeceased by her parents John and Mary (nee Stankewicz) Chmiel, her sisters Helen Krupinski and Mary Epper, and her brother Peter Chmiel.
In lieu of flowers we are sure Patti would love donations made in her memory to an Animal Shelter of your choice, or the AHS of Newark at https://ahscares.org/newark or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation at https://www.nationalbreastcancer.org.
