Beloved Mother, Sister and Grandmother, 82

Mrs. Maria (nee Battista) Grieco, 82, of Bloomfield, NJ, formerly of Newark, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022. Visitation will be on Thursday August 4 at the Biondi Funeral of Nutley 540 Franklin Avenue from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, August 5 at 9:30 a.m.  There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Lucy’s Church, 118 – 7th Avenue, Newark on Friday, August 5 at 10:45 a.m., which is the Feast Day of Our Lady of Snow, the Patron Saint of Maria’s hometown of Calabritto, Italy. The entombment will be at Glendale Chapel Mausoleum, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield.   

Maria was born in Calabritto, Italy and emigrated to Newark in 1955 at the age of 15 before moving to Bloomfield 40 years ago.  She enjoyed her family and cherished her grandchildren.  Maria had a passion for cooking for her friends and family.

She is survived by her children Annamaria Contella and her husband Frank, Gabriella Stiefbold and her husband Scott, Anthony Grieco and his wife Johnna; her loving sister Regina Manley; and her cherished grandchildren Dante, Frankie, Arianna, Sean, Mia, Carter, Callie and Cade.  She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

Maria is predeceased by her husband Michelangelo Grieco (2019), and her brothers Donato and Antonio Battista.
