Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, 81

Mrs. Maria (nee Andollina) Alessandra, 81, of Belleville, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. at St. Joseph’s Medical Center, Paterson.  Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Friday, March 19 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.   The funeral will be conducted on Saturday, March 20 at 8:15 a.m.  There will be a funeral mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley at 9:30 a.m.  The entombment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.

Mrs. Alessandra was born in Alia, Palermo, Sicily and emigrated to Newark, NJ in 1967, before moving to Belleville 36 years ago.  She was an Assembler for Liberty Optical Newark for 27 years before retiring. After retiring, Maria dedicated her life to her grandchildren and family.  She enjoyed cooking her traditional Sicilian dishes for her loving family and friends.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years Gaetano Alessandra; her devoted children Salvatore Alessandra and his wife Patricia, Rosalie Gusera and her husband Joseph, and Charles Alessandra and his wife Richelle; her loving siblings Teresa Andollina, Elvira Andollina, Cosimo Andollina and Nino Andollina; her cherished grandchildren Melissa, Salvatore, Filomena, Gabriella, Danielle, Maria and Ava; and her precious great-granddaughter Analivia.  She is also survived by her many loving nieces, nephews and cousins in Sicily and Italy.

Mrs. Alessandra is predeceased by her brother Salvatore and her sisters Tina and Crucifica.

Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic occupancy limitations, visitors are asked to pay their respects in a timely fashion and exit in order to allow others the opportunity to enter the funeral home. Visitors are also required to wear a mask and practice social distancing.
