Lewis A. Lospaluto

Korean War Air Force Veteran

Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Brother, 92

Mr. Lewis Anthony Lospaluto, 92 of Bloomfield, NJ passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, June 10 surrounded by his loving family.  Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Wednesday, June 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, June 15 at 9:00 a.m.  There will be a funeral mass celebrated at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Avenue, Bloomfield at 10:00 a.m.  The interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington with military honors.

Mr. Lospaluto was born in Lyndhurst, NJ to the late Anthony and Ida (nee Petti) Lospaluto and has been a Bloomfield resident since 1963.  A graduate of Lyndhurst High School and The Academy of Advanced Traffic in New York City, he worked in the trucking industry for more than 50 years.  He and his late wife, Norma (nee Rohde), also previously owned the Pickwick Village Gift Shop in Belleville.

Mr. Lospaluto served in the U. S. Air Force for four years during the Korean War, including a long tour in North Africa.  He was a proud member of Amvets Post #20 in Lyndhurst, where he most recently acted as finance officer and marched annually in the Lyndhurst Memorial Day Parade, serving as a flag bearer well into his late 80s.

As a young man, he played in the Lyndhurst Men’s Softball League and coached youth football in the Lyndhurst Midget Football League.  He was a faithful communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Bloomfield.

An avid reader, he was also an ardent fan of the New York Football Giants and the New York Mets, loved playing cards at the club, and enjoyed feeding and observing the many songbirds that visited his backyard.

Mr. Lospaluto is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Bridget Lospaluto; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and James Magnatta; his grandchildren, Dr. Michael Kinder and his wife Ashley, and Chelsea Kinder, and Kristen and Anthony Magnatta; his great-grandchildren Emma and Benjamin Kinder; his sister Dawn Lospaluto; and his brother-in-law the Hon. George Rohde, Jr. and his wife, Barbara.

He is predeceased by his wife of 49 years Norma Lospaluto (2009), and his son Jeffrey Kinder (2011).
