Josephine Meo (née Prignano), 98, of Belleville, NJ, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at her home. Visitation will be held at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue, on Monday, December 11, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, December 12, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley, at 10:30 a.m. The interment will take place at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield. A repass will follow.
Born in Newark, NJ, Josephine moved to Belleville in 1963, where she resided for over 60 years. She lived a life filled with love, laughter, and an unwavering spirit that touched everyone she met. Josephine brought joy and laughter to her family and friends, making every moment with her a cherished memory. Her playful spirit was a beacon of light, especially for her grandchildren, with whom she adored spending time.
Josephine was not only the heart of her family but also the last remaining sibling of six brothers and two sisters, leaving behind a legacy of strength and unity. She lived through the Great Depression and World War II, witnessing five of her brothers serve in the armed forces simultaneously.
Josephine was employed as a secretary with Western Electric, Kearny, where she met her husband, Louis. Later in her professional life, she dedicated herself as a dental assistant, demonstrating care and compassion in her work.
Her life was a tapestry of beautiful moments with treasured memories centered around her children and grandchildren. Josephine's presence was a gift to all who knew her, and her absence will be deeply felt. Her spirit, stories, and laughter will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
Josephine is predeceased by her loving husband of 44 years, Louis Vincent Meo. A beloved mother, she leaves behind daughters, Maryann and Louise J. Meo, and her son-in-law, Andrew Borg, Esq. Josephine was a proud grandmother to Dr. Alexander Meo Borg and Vanessa Meo Borg, whose achievements brought immense joy to her life. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.
