Mr. Joseph A. DeRose, Sr., 96, of Belleville, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at the East Orange VA Medical Center. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Friday, September 30 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, October 1 at 8:15 a.m. There will be a funeral mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley at 9:30 a.m. The interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield with military honors.
Mr. DeRose was born in Newark, NJ and resided in Belleville after marrying the love of his life, his wife Nancy in 1962. He was employed by Ace Tool Manufacturing in Newark as a Tool and Die Maker for over 50 years before retiring. Mr. DeRose was a proud member of the Italian American Club. He was also a member of the Newark and Lyndhurst Pigeon Clubs. Mr. DeRose honorably served in the United States Army during World War II.
He is survived by his beloved children Karen DeRose and Joseph DeRose, Jr.; his loving sister Edith Amato and her husband Sonny; his dear in-laws Virginia Hanna, Joe (Jr.) and Christine Amato, Frank and Barbara Amato, and Robert Amato; and his many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. DeRose is predeceased by his wife Nancy V. (nee Amato) DeRose (2019); his parents Anthony and Anna (nee Fernicola) DeRose; his sisters Louise Crowley, Camille DiBella and her husband Bob, Tina Petrucci; his brothers James DeRose and his wife Olympia, and Louis DeRose and his wife Ann.
