Beloved Father, Brother and Grandfather, 91
Mr. John M. Coffey, Jr., 91, of Nutley, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Church, 17 Msgr. Owens Place, Nutley, on Saturday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m. The entombment will be at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington.
Mr. Coffey was born in Newark, NJ and resided in Nutley since 1966. He was employed as a Custodian at Nutley High School for many years before retiring. Previously Mr. Coffey was an Assembler for Western Electric, Kearny for 30 years. Mr. Coffey served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Nutley Emergency & Rescue Squad from the mid-1960’s to 1974, and he was also a member of St. Mary’s Knights of Columbus Council #2346. Mr. Coffey was a dedicated, lifetime blood donor reaching the 20 gallon milestone.
He is survived by his beloved children Sean Coffey and his wife Elizabeth Sheehan, Bridget Ceruti and her husband Brian, and Anne Coffey; his loving sister Mary Filik, and his cherished grandchildren William, Michaela, Paige, Emmersyn and Ian.
Mr. Coffey is predeceased by his wife Priscilla (nee Hosie) Coffey (2003).
