Jerome “Jerry” Mascari Sr.
Beloved Husband, Father and Son, 55
Jerome (“Jerry”) Layden Mascari, Sr., lifelong resident of Nutley, NJ passed away on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2021. Born on June 7, 1966, he was 55 years of age. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley on Monday, December 6 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, December 7 from 11:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. There will be a funeral service celebrated at 11:30 a.m. The cremation will be held privately.
Jerry had a passion to explore and pursued businesses that interested him and would move on when they no longer stimulated his appetite for success. He owned and operated Sun Glass & Mirror Co., Automotive Waste Industries, InstantLink Internet Access, and the SlikStik LLC arcade business. He was a successful Realtor for many years and a landlord to numerous multifamily homes. His most prized proprietorship was NJ Wildlife & Pest Control which he had dedicated extensive time and effort, growing it into his most successful venture. His family plans on continuing to operate and develop the business as a legacy for him.
Jerry had many hobbies over the years but is favorite was always anything to do with motorcycles and riding his Harleys, a passion he enjoyed with his son, Jerry Jr. He shared many miles on the road in various states with many friends and frequented Daytona Beach bike week, Wildwood, and many more destinations in past years. This past August was the most epic ever, as he and Jerry Jr. shared their first trip ever to Sturgis in South Dakota. They rode miles in scenic areas with views we can only imagine, met new friends and listened to many concerts each night. More importantly, father and son made many wonderful memories to cherish.
Jerry had a very special gift about him, always willing and ready to help others and people just seemed to bond with him. They found in him what we all did: an intelligent person with a big heart, compassionate to their concerns; someone you could go to when you needed advice, a push in the right direction or simply an ear to listen. He truly was a friend you could always count on.
What Jerry held in highest regard was not a possession, but his great fortune and honor to have become a dad. He was elated the day his son Jerry Jr. was born. While he may not have changed many diapers, he was extremely involved being a hands-on Pop. Jerry shared many first-time events with Jerry Jr, attended all his sporting events, taught him to ride a bike, showed him how to use a computer, spoiled him every holiday, taught him how to use power tools, how to work on his cars and motorcycles and because their birthdays were just 4 days apart, celebrated every year together. He guided him through life and instilled lifelong qualities into him which he will always have. Jerry Jr. truly was the most precious gift ever to him, and Jerry Sr. always said he was so grateful for him and honored to be his father. He loved his son more than life itself.
He is survived by his loving Mother Sharon and Stepfather Robert Cockefair; Eileen (Kelleher) Mascari to whom he was married and remained best of friends; his son Jerome Layden Mascari Jr. whom he loved with all his heart and soul. Also survived by his half-sister Toni Mulcahey and nephews and niece Ryan, Jake and Lexi; his step-brother Wayne Cockefair and his son Jon and family; Sisters-in-law Kathleen and the late Joe James, Colleen and Martin Byrne, Maureen and Michael Lillis and nieces Colleen and Riley; special and very dear friend Claire Dotoli and her daughter Brooklyn whom he just adored. He also leaves behind some very close friends he considered family and an abundance of friends and family he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his Grandparents Fayella and Pat Patro.
We loved him dearly. He will be missed forever…
