Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and Friend

December 22, 1950 - July 18, 2023 

James Joseph Murray III, 72, a resident of Nutley, NJ passed away on July 18, 2023, peacefully at home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial funeral mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 60 Byrd Ave, Bloomfield on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 9:30am.                          

Jim was born in Jersey City, NJ, and was a resident of Nutley for 41 years. Jim worked as a Snap-On Tools Franchise owner for 35 years and was a top salesman. He was a member of the Upper Montclair Country Club where he enjoyed golfing and meals with family and friends. He loved the community of Nutley and enjoyed supporting philanthropic and other social events. Jim was a conversationalist and was kind, helpful, and supportive of those in his life. He loved all of his family, but his grandchildren held a special place in his heart.                                                                                                     

He is survived by his beloved wife of 49 years, Joy (nee Riccardi) Murray, his son James Joseph Murray, IV, and his wife Suzanne, his cherished grandchildren, Tessa, James, Mackenzie, Jack, and Ryan Murray and his brother Kevin Murray and his wife Genevieve and also his loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. 

He is predeceased by his loving son Eric Ryan Murray (2022), his parents James Joseph Murray, II and Virginia (nee Flanagan), and his loving in-laws Ann and Rick Riccardi.     

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s honor to a charity of your choice or the family requests that each of you show an act of kindness to another person to honor Jim’s memory.
