Beloved Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather and Brother, 87

Mr. Ivan B. DeMendonca, 87, of Newark, NJ, passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.  There will be a funeral service celebrated at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Thursday, September 28 at 12:30 p.m. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.  The interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, 28 Hoover Avenue, Bloomfield.   

Ivan was born in Georgetown, Guyana.  He and his wife Bibisham Rohoman were married in 1958.  Together with their two children, they emigrated to the United States in 1972 and resided in Newark, NJ where they raised their family.  He earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Guyana and was employed as an accountant in New York for 30 years before retiring in 2008.   

He is survived by his beloved daughters Heather Turdo and her husband Dominic of Palm Coast, Florida, and Petal Dinson of Kearny, NJ; his cherished grandchildren Jennifer Condron and her husband John of Sparta NJ, Dominique Dinson, Dillon Dinson of Kearny, NJ, Donovan Dinson and his wife Hiromi of Flemington, NJ, Matthew Rivera and his wife Adriana of Budd Lake, NJ; and his precious great-grandson Levi Rivera.

Ivan is also survived by his siblings, Mervyn DeMendonca, Patrick DeMendonca, Billy DeMendonca of the U.K. and Ann Loung of Toronto, Canada; and also his nieces and nephews.

Ivan is predeceased by his wife Bibisham Rohoman (10/7/1990), his parents Arthur and Agnes (nee Fitzgerald) DeMendonca, his great-grandson Miles Ambrose Dinson, his siblings Neil DeMendonca and Michael DeMendonca, and his son-in-law Victor Dinson.
