Gianna was born in Bayonne, NJ and was a lifelong Nutley resident. She was a true hero and shined bright in every room she entered. She was special and didn’t allow anything to dim her spark. She was born a leader. And when cancer tried to dim her spark, she looked it straight into the eyes no matter how difficult it seemed. She fought a very, very tough battle, but somehow managed to make it look easy. Gianna Signorile graduated from Nutley High School where she excelled in both academics and athletics. She was hardworking, determined, and had fierce stamina, which all worked to serve her well. Gianna was a part of the National Honor Society, held a Seal of Biliteracy in the Italian language, was a straight A student throughout her entire life, and was the captain of the cheerleading squad, among many other achievements. After high school, she attended the University of Maryland School of Business, where she made the Dean’s list. This past year, Gianna transferred to Fordham University Gabelli School of Business where she had huge aspirations and dreamed of becoming a lawyer. She had a genuine zest for life. Gianna was a true character and didn’t abide by any rules, instead she forged her own paths in many aspects of life. She was playful, independent, strong-minded, and inquisitive. Even in the midst of very rough times, Gianna was determined to complete her studies and valued education, in fact, made it her upmost priority, oftentimes putting it before her treatments. Although her life seemed short, she managed to live a full life in a mere 21 years. She traveled to many places – Cape May, Florida, the Jersey Shore, Boston, and Nashville - all within this past year. She was a true Jersey Girl who loved the beach. She was the mother of two dachshunds whom she loved fiercely. Gianna made an impression on everyone she encountered and motivated others to become the best versions of themselves. She will be missed by the many people she touched.
She is survived by her parents John and Dawn (nee Valanzola) Signorile; her devoted brother John Thomas Signorile; her loving aunts and uncles Vincent Signorile and his wife Dana Bonham, Sandra Valanzola and Pam Valanzola, Mildred Marciniak and her wife Robin, Debbie Roberts and her husband Jimi; and her dear cousins Jaimi and her husband Mark. She is also survived by her beloved dachshunds Paulie and Luca.
Gianna is predeceased by her fraternal grandparents Ralph and Rita (nee DeRosa) Signorile, her maternal grandparents Thomas and Dolores (nee Placito) Valanzola, and her uncles Thomas and Frank Valanzola.
