Gerardo Blasi Obituary

Gerardo A. Blasi

Beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather and Uncle, 65

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerardo Anthony Blasi, a cherished son, father, brother, husband, Pop Pop, uncle, godfather, and friend.

Mr. Gerardo A. Blasi, 65, of Lodi, NJ, formerly of Clifton, NJ and Riverdale, NY, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2024.  Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Friday, April 19 at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley at 10:30 a.m.  The cremation will be held privately.

Gerardo was born in Newark, NJ and resided in Clifton for most of his life before moving to Riverdale, NY and then to Lodi two years ago.  He was employed by the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for 35 years before retiring.

Gerardo’s journey began on 10th Street, Newark where he was surrounded by the warmth of family, friends, neighbors, and the tight-knit community that shaped his early years. As the youngest of his siblings, Gerardo was enveloped in love, his childhood filled with laughter and cherished memories. Though life led him far from 10th Street, Gerardo’s compassionate spirit and genuine warmth drew lasting friendships wherever he went.

Gerardo’s love extended beyond humans to include his cherished four-legged companions, each one holding a special place in his heart. Gerardo had a love for cooking and baking that was instilled in him by his mother Lucy. His culinary talents were a testament to their very close bond. Like his mother, Gerardo’s way of taking care of those around him was through cooking for them.

A man of quiet faith, Gerardo held a deep belief in the importance of cherishing every moment and embracing the bonds of family. “Remember, family is important. Let’s enjoy the time we have together,” he would say.

Gerardo’s presence, though fleeting at times, left an enduring impression. He was known to drop by for a sandwich, then rush to go back to the comfort of his own home, often to take care of his dog. Regardless, his presence always was felt, and then dearly missed when he made his quick exit. Today, while his family is thankful for the impact he made on their hearts, he will be missed so much for going Home so soon.

Gerardo will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may we find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear.

He is survived by his beloved son Alexander Salta and his wife Maria Perillo; his loving siblings Linda Russomanno and her husband Frank, Carmen Blasi and his fiancé` Donna; his cherished grandson Anthony; his dear nieces Michele and Kimberly Russomano and Caitlin; and his dear great-niece Gianna.

Gerardo was predeceased his by wife of 30 years Mary Anne Perrotta-Blasi, his parents Anthony and Lucy (nee Salvatoriello) Blasi, and his loving sister-in-law Alette Blasi.
