Beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Uncle, 74

Mr. Gerald C. Melillo, 74, of Bloomfield, NJ, passed away on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.  Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Tuesday, September 28 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The funeral will be conducted on Wednesday, September 29 at 8:45 a.m.  There will be a funeral mass celebrated at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, 120 Prospect Street, Nutley at 10:00 a.m.  The interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 23 Cottage Place, Bloomfield with military honors.

Mr. Melillo was born in Newark, NJ and resided in Bloomfield since 1983.  He was employed as a Maintenance Controller for Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville for 40 years.  After his career at Clara Maass, he was employed as a clerk for The Home Depot in Bloomfield and Montville for 15 years before retiring.  Mr. Melillo  honorably served his country in the United States Army National Guard from 1971 – 1991.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 70, Nutley.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years Mary Jo (nee Verlingo) Melillo; his devoted son Michael Melillo and his girlfriend Dara Klatsky; his loving siblings, Gloria Zangari and her husband Peter, and Sal Melillo and his wife Betty; his dear mother-in-law Madeline Verlingo; his dear sisters-in-law Janet Gargano and her husband Frank, Susan Verlingo and Nancy Fassett and her husband Wayne; and also his loving nieces and nephews Adrienne, Peter, Craig, Elaine, and Paul.

Mr. Melillo is predeceased by his beloved son Gerard F. Melillo (2017), his parents Gerardo and Lena (nee DeLaura) Melillo, his brother Paul Melillo, his father-in-law Frederick Verlingo, and his nephews Ronald and Gerard.
