Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, 84

Mr. Gaetano V. “Tom” Re, 84, of Nutley, formerly of the Ironbound Section of Newark, passed away on Friday, January 22, 2021 at Mountainside Hospital, Glen Ridge.  A funeral mass will be celebrated at a later date.

Tom was born and raised in the Ironbound Section of Newark, NJ and resided in Nutley since 1965.  He began his career as a stock broker for Francis I. DuPont, later for E.F. Hutton and finally for Merrill Lynch before retiring.  Tom was a lover of Broadway, mostly musicals.  He enjoyed playing golf with his regular partners, was an avid NY Giants football fan, and a Seton Hall University basketball fan.  Tom had a very deep Catholic faith.  Most importantly, he was a proud father, grandfather, and most recently a great-grandfather.  

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Jane (nee Salerno) Re, his devoted children Thomas Re and his wife Carrie, Joseph Re and his wife Colleen, Janine Gibney and her husband Robert, and Robert Re and his wife Wendi; his cherished grandchildren, Tyler Re, Anthony Re and his wife Alyssa, Nicole Re and her husband Ben, Amanda Re, Tommy Gibney and his wife Julia, Stephanie Dowling and her husband Kieran, Alex Re, Sammi Re and Nicolas Re; and also his precious great-grandson Matthew Dowling.

Tom is predeceased by his brother Pasquale Re and his sister Grace De Rosa.
