Beloved Mother and Aunt, 100

Elisa Minichello (nee Nardacchione), 100, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family and 2 loving care givers on September 9, 2022, secondary to complications from a fall.  She was born in Newark, NJ on March 25, 1922 to Angelo Nardacchione and Angelina (Martino) Nardacchione, both immigrants from Italy (Naples region). Her family relocated to New York City where she graduated from Fordam HS in 1940. In 1941, Elisa and her sister, Elvira, joined the USO Camp Shows, Inc., as Rockettes, touring the United States, using the stage surname, Norton. On tour, in Wilmington DE, she met her future husband, Gabriel Minichello, a US Marine about to deploy to Guadacanal and the Solomon Islands. They corresponded throughout WWII and married upon his return in 1945. In 1953, the couple bought a home in Bloomfield NJ where they raised their two children.

Elisa engaged in classic suburban pursuits to include school, family, church and community activities. She also worked 33 years for Terry Drug Store, Bloomfield NJ, as the office manager and bookkeeper, until she retired in 1990. Elisa remained active in family and community activities until well into her 9th decade. She was an avid gardener who also loved all animals, esp cats, and she was skilled at knitting and sewing.

Elisa was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Gabriel Minichello, and her son, Robert Minichello. Also predeceasing her are siblings: Emma Nardacchione (3), Maria Antoinetta Nardacchione (1), Arthur Norton (Margaret, Blanche), Emma DeSarro (William), Emil Nardachone (Grace), Howard Norton (Ursilina), Elvira Bosco (Francis) and Flory Norton (Harriet).

She is survived by her daughter Lois E. Brenneman (Jon) of New Milford Township, PA and Sun Lakes, AZ, her daughter-in-law, Donna J. McCoy (Richard) of Montvale, NJ and Naples, FL. and their daughter, Dawn Winiarz (Steven), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral by Biondi FH, Nutley, NJ. Interment at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield, NJ.
