Beloved Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, 103

Mrs. Carmela (nee Melici) Cantagallo, 103, of Nutley, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue, on Wednesday, August 30, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, August 31 at 8:30 a.m.  There will be a funeral mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley at 9:30 a.m.  The interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover.

Carmela was born in Newark, NJ and resided in Nutley since 1953.  She was a Sewing Machine Operator in the garment district of Newark for many years. Carmela loved cooking and enjoyed her glass of wine.

She is survived by her beloved children Joyce Cantagallo, and Ronald Cantagallo and his wife Dale; her cherished grandchildren Christopher and Carey; her precious great-granddaughter Sofia; her loving brothers Vincenzo, Charlie, and Vito Melici, and her loving sister Josephine Orlando.  She is also survived by her 11 loving nieces and nephews.

Carmela is predeceased by her husband Joseph Cantagallo (2008), her parents Antonio and Giuseppina (nee Moschitti) Melici, and her brothers John, Ross, Philip and Joseph Melici.
