Beloved Husband, Father, Son and Brother, 49
Mr. Carlos A. Rivera, 49, of Sayreville, NJ, passed away on January 15, 2022 at the University Medical Center, Newark. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Tuesday, February 1 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral mass on Wednesday, February 2 at Holy Family Church, 28 Brookline Avenue, Nutley, at 10:30 a.m. The cremation will be held privately.
Carlos was born in Newark, NJ where he resided before moving to Sayreville in 2008. He was a proud graduate of East Side High School in 1990. He was appointed to the Newark Fire Department on June 13, 1995. He was assigned to Ladder 7, Tour 4 on August 1, 1995, and later was transferred to Roving, Tour 4 on January 4, 2011 and assigned to Ladder 7, Tour 4 on March 2011, which was his last assignment. He was promoted to the rank of Fire Captain on November 12, 2010.
He enjoyed fishing in the ocean on his kayak and was an avid Miami Dolphins and New York Mets fan. He was an amazing father and was passionate about everything he did. He was respected by of his fellow firefighters and will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his beloved wife Rosiane (nee De Gouvea) Rivera. Together they celebrated their 14th wedding anniversary on November 2, 2021; his daughter Scarlett Rivera whom he adored; his devoted mother Maria (nee Garcia) Rivera; and his loving sister Madeline Rivera.
Carlos is predeceased by his father Carlos M. Rivera.
