Beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, 73

Mr. Benito Galarza, 73, of Newark, NJ sadly left us to rest in eternal peace on Sunday, March 12, 2023 from a brief illness, surrounded by his family.  Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Sunday, March 19 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, March 20 at 9:15 a.m. There will be a funeral mass celebrated at St. Michael’s Church, 172 Broadway, Newark at 10:30 a.m. The interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, 340 Ridge Road, North Arlington.

Benito was born in Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico and later moved to Newark, NJ where he went on to become a father of four.  He was lively, thoughtful & hardworking.  Benito was a dedicated & loving father & an all-around favorite to nieces, nephews, colleagues & friends. To know Benito is to know how much he loved salsa music, our Puerto Rican culture, and loved the NY Yankees. 

He was a dedicated employee for R & R Scaffolding for 18 years before retiring in 2021.  He used his free moments working on his Honda & spending quality time with his family & loved ones.  He loved his family & was a devoted father & grandfather.  He had very strong values & was well liked by everyone because of his sense of humor, infectious personality, positive energy & incredible patience.  He will forever be missed.

His legacy lives on. Benito is survived by his devoted children Angelbert Galarza, Sophy Galarza, Priscilla Galarza and his stepdaughter Annette Cosme; his cherished grandchildren Angelbert Galarza, Jr., Tianna Galarza, Jaydon Galarza, Tierra Salgado, Jayden Salgado, Derek Mobley, Devin Cosme, Dashawn Cosme; and his precious great-grandsons Joziah Aguilar and Jeremias Montano and his adored great-granddaughters Amber Boyce and Janaisha Sanchez; his former wife Carmen Galarza; and his dearest companion Carmen Negron.

Benito is predeceased by his granddaughters Tamika Boyce and Sophy Mobley.
