Mr. Robert E. Nebelung, Sr., 88, of Belleville, NJ, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family. The memorial visitation will be held at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Sunday, December 1, from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted on Monday, December 2 at 9:30 a.m. There will be a Memorial Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Nutley at 10:45 a.m. The inurnment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield with military honors.
Mr. Nebelung was born in Jersey City and resided in Belleville for the past 62 years. He was a Sales Manager for Farkas Office Furniture, Whippany for many years before retiring at the age of 65. He was co-owner of Rosebud’s Sweet Shoppe in Belleville for 14 years with his wife Mary and his son James. Mr. Nebelung was an Honorary Lifetime Member and Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Belleville Council #835, and was also past District Deputy of the Knights of Columbus. He was a Eucharist Minister and Lecturer at his parish. Mr. Nebelung served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years Mary (nee Satzger) Nebelung; his devoted sons Robert E. Nebelung, Jr. and his wife Ana, and James J. Nebelung and his husband Dr. Michael Wajda.
Mr. Nebelung is predeceased by his parents John W. and Catherine (nee Cahill) Nebelung; his father-in-law and mother-in-law Frank J. and Mae T. (nee Connelly) Satzger; his brother Eugene Nebelung and his sister Margaret Shanley; and also his niece Kathleen Whalen who passed on September 13, 2019.
