Mr. Ralph D. Figliuzzi, 89, of Bloomfield, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019 at the Job-Haines Nursing Home, Bloomfield. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Friday, May 10 from 8:30 a.m. – 9:45 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 10:30 a.m. The entombment will be at Hollywood Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum, Union with military honors.
Ralph was born on October 9, 1929 in Union City and was a lifelong resident of Bloomfield, NJ. He graduated with Honors from Barringer High School, Newark in 1947, where he lettered in track and fencing. His yearbook described him as “well-dressed, temperamental and mirthful”. He was an army veteran of the Korean War. Ralph worked at Otis Elevator Company in Harrison, and Otis Elevator Construction in New York for 42 years before retiring.
He is survived by his beloved sister Marie Malavarca; his loving nieces and nephews Grace Marino and her husband Frank, Betty Guglielmino and her husband Richard, and Oscar Malavarca and Ripalta Nunziato. He is also survived by his loving great-nephews and great-nieces Christopher Marino, Oscar Malavarca and his wife Aki, Andrea Moy and her husband Brian, Michael Marino, Matthew Malavarca and Charlene, Lisa Annese and her husband Angelo, and Marco Malavarca; and his great-great-nephews and niece Anthony, Michael, Adele and Matthew. Ralph also leaves behind lifelong friends Herman (Prep) Russomanno, Mina Yanuzzi and Bruno and Marie Scrivo.
Mr. Figliuzzi is predeceased by his parents Bruno and Maria (nee Raffaele) Figliuzzi, and his brothers Joseph, Louis and Salvatore.
