Mr. Paul Carnicella, Sr., 97, of Nutley, NJ, formerly of the Ironbound Section of Newark, passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018. The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Thursday, October 11 at 8:15 a.m. There will be a funeral mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 9:30. The entombment will be at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington with military honors. Visitation will be on Wednesday, October 10 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.
Mr. Carnicella was born in Altoona, PA and resided in the Ironbound Section of Newark before moving to Nutley 24 years ago. He worked for Bilkays Express Co., Elizabeth for 33 years before retiring in 1989. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II (European Theatre) from 1942 – 1946.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Ophelia (nee Castellano) Carnicella, his devoted children Angela Marie Negron and her husband Gary, Paul Carnicella and his wife Celia, and Robert Carnicella and his wife Beth; his loving siblings Vincent Carnicella and Doris Gega; and his cherished grandchildren Paul Giovanni, Garret, Ciara Marie, Brandon, Kaitlyn, Ashley and Brianna. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Carnicella is predeceased by his brother Anthony Carnicella and his sister Anna De Santis.
