Pasquale Intindola
Beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather, 82
Mr. Pasquale Intindola, 82, of Nutley, NJ, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Sunday, January 12 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley on Monday, January 13 at 10:30 a.m. The entombment will be at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington with military honors. Mr. Intindola was born in Newark, NJ on February 9, 1937 and resided in Belleville before moving to Nutley over 50 years ago. He attended Greylock Grammar School and was a 1955 graduate of Belleville High School. He worked as a life guard.
He was honorably discharged from the NJ National Guard to join the Navy in June, 1955. Mr. Intindola graduated Electrician Mate School and served on the Battleship New Jersey as a 2nd class electrician. He later graduated from Automatic De Guasing and Mine Warfare School. Mr. Intindola also served on the Destroyer USS Cone DP 866. After his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in 1959, he worked at ITT while running his own construction business and attending Bloomfield College for three years under the GI Bill. He later graduated from R.E.T.S. Mr. Intindola was a Navy Veteran of the Lebanon Crisis in 1958
Mr. Intindola served as president of the Nutley First Aid Squad for 10 years, and was the Nutley Zoning and Construction Official from 1973 to present. He also served on Barrier Free, Mechanical & Energy NJ State Committees.
Mr. Intindola was past-president of Building Officials of NJ. He received the Man of the Year, Inspector of the Year Awards. He was an Adjunct Professor for 20 years at Essex County College. Mr. Intindola was a Town of Nutley Planning Board member 1973 to 2011, a NJ Fire Commissioner from 1984 to present, Chairman of the Essex County Board of Appeals from 1978 to present. He was also a life member of the Nutley Elks Lodge #1290, and the New Jersey Board of Adjusters, member of the Stafford Italian American Club, and member of the Nutley Knights of Columbus. Mr. Intindola was chairman Fire Code Advisory Council 1978 to present, and member of the Essex County Building Officials. He was also a member of the Executive Committee NJ Building Officials 1973 to present
Mr. Intindola designed a handicap home for Mike Reilly of Nutley, and designed and built the Special Young Adults Building, Nutley. He also loved cars, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife Carmen (nee Ruiz) Intindola whom he married in 1959; his children Pasquale, Jr., and Lenore Catania and her husband Guy; his daughter-in-law Doreen; his sister Vivian Ballantyne, and his brother Nicholas Intindola and his wife Mary; his grandchildren Michael, Terrence, Shane, Cheyenne, Christopher and Ryan. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Intindola is predeceased by his son Michael Intindola and his parents Eleanore ( nee DiLiberti) Intindola - Del Guercio and Salvatore Intindola.
