Michelangelo (Mike) Grieco, 79, of Bloomfield, formerly of Newark, NJ, passed away on Friday, March 8, 2019. Visitation will be on Tuesday March 12 at the Biondi Funeral of Nutley 540 Franklin Ave. from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted on Wednesday March 13 at 9:30 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Lucy’s Church Newark at 10:45 a.m. The entombment will be at Glendale Chapel Mausoleum Bloomfield.
Mr. Grieco was born in Ruvo del Monte, Italy; he immigrated to Orange, NJ in 1963. He lived in the Newark for 14 years before moving to Bloomfield 37 years ago. Mr. Grieco began his career as a tailor at age 10 in Italy. He then worked in the fashion industry in New York City for many years, his last position being a pattern maker for Ellen Tracy New York for 14 years before retiring. Mr. Grieco also served in the Italian Army.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years Maria (nee Battista) Grieco and his loving children Annamaria Contella and her husband Frank, Gabriella Grieco Stiefbold and her husband Scott, Anthony Grieco and his wife Johnna; his brother Vincenzo Grieco and his sister Raffaella Grieco in Tita; his cherished grandchildren Dante, Frankie, Sean, Arianna, Mia, Carter, Callie and Cade.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Bloomfield Emergency and Rescue Squad, 1 Municipal Plaza, Bloomfield, NJ, 07003.
