Beloved Husband, Father, Brother and Grandfather, 67
Mark A. Groninger, Esq., 67, of Lyndhurst, NJ passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 13, 2019. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Wednesday, July 17 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted on Thursday, July 18 at 9:45 a.m. There will be a funeral mass celebrated at Queen of Peace Church, North Arlington at 11:00 a.m. The cremation will be held privately.
Born and raised in Newark, Mark moved to Lyndhurst when he married his wife Gail in 1975. Mark received his BS in Economics from Rutgers University, Newark in 1974. He worked as a truck driver for Emery Airfreight until he went to law school in 1987. Mark graduated from Seton Hall Law, Newark in 1990. After law school, he clerked for Judge Clark in Passaic County; loved criminal law and began working with the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office as an Assistant Prosecutor. He worked there until his retirement in 2002. Mark’s favorite activities were watching the Yankees, seeing his grandchildren playing sports or playing catch with them, visiting Long Beach Island, fishing, reading, enjoying a night out for dinner with Gail, and spending time with his family. Mark was a lector at St. Michael’s Church, Lyndhurst and served on the Executive Board of the Meadowlands YMCA.
Surviving are his loving wife of 44 years, Gail (nee Mikuli) Groninger, his daughter Nicole Crowe, and her husband Michael of Pompton Plains, his son Mark Groninger and his wife Jaclyn of Pequannock, and his cherished grandchildren Jayson, Kiley, Bryan, and Joseph. Also surviving are his brothers Eric, Scott, Brett, and his sister Dana MacKenzie, and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents Anne and Henry Groninger, his mother and father-in-law, Helen and Albert Mikuli, and his sister-in-law Audrey Costa.
