 Beloved Father, Brother, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather, 92

Mr. Francesco "the Hawk" Bonavita, 92, of Newark, NJ, passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Clara Maass Medical Center, Belleville.   The funeral will be conducted from the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Friday, November 30 at 9:30 a.m.  There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Lucy’s Church, Newark at 10:45 a.m.  The interment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.  Visitation will be on Thursday, November 29 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m.   

Mr. Bonavita was born in Amantea Calabria, Italy and emigrated to Newark, NJ in 1946.  He was the owner of Frank’s Barber Shop, Newark for over 60 years.

He is survived by his beloved children Mariantonia Galasso and her husband Michael, Francesca Bonavita and her husband Larry Melillo, and Nick Bonavita and his wife Mandy; his loving siblings Umberto, Rocco, and Aldo Bonavita and Frances Carchia; his cherished grandchildren Michele, Adrianne, Erica and David; and his precious great-grandchildren Victoria, Veronica, Nina, Vash and Brock.

Mr. Bonavita is predeceased by his wife Lydia (nee Guido) Bonavita (2002), and his sister Anna Aloe.
