Carolina “Lina” DiCosta
Beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, 90
Carolina “Lina” (Cotugno) DiCosta of Bloomfield and Toms River, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020, peacefully, at home. Carolina’s 90-year life was devoted to her family and her selfless, giving nature. Born in Maddaloni, Italy to Vincenzo and Angelina Cotugno in 1929, Carolina was the first born of ten children (three, who have passed). She was raised in Maddaloni, Italy and came to the United States after marrying her husband of 38 years, who passed away in 1989.
Carolina (Lina) and Carmine raised two daughters, MaryAnn Tonzola (Michael) and Angela Duke (Andrew), in Bloomfield, New Jersey, creating a lifetime of fond memories.
Lina adored her five grandchildren, Joseph Tonzola (Suzanne), Erica Speedy (Todd), Christina McGee (Jason), Tyler, and Casey Duke (Kymberly). She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren, Cole, Gage, and Blake (Speedy). Lina cherished the time she spent with her family. She always accepted others into her family with open arms.
Lina enjoyed traveling and visiting her sisters and brother in Italy. She also enjoyed cooking her delicious Italian food for her family and friends.
Surviving are her two daughters, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, five sisters (Franca, Louisa, Edda, Olga, Maria) and one brother (Antonio).
Carolina’s funeral was held privately. To honor Lina’s spirit, there will be a celebration of her life on April 19, 2020 - time and place to be announced.
