Beloved Father, Brother and Uncle, 89
Mr. Antonio Iovino, 89, of West Caldwell, NJ, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2019. Visitation will be at the Biondi Funeral Home of Nutley, 540 Franklin Avenue on Sunday, March 17 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The funeral will be conducted on Monday, March 18, at 9:15 a.m. There will be a Funeral Mass celebrated at Holy Family Church, Nutley at 10:30 a.m. The entombment will be at Glendale Cemetery, Bloomfield.
Mr. Iovino was born in San Paolo Belsito, Naples, Italy and emigrated to Newark, NJ in 1954, moving to West Caldwell in 1961. In Italy he was a mason and builder and worked at his trade until 1958 when he started a new business, Esposito and Iovino Meat Market on Franklin Avenue, Belleville. In 1984 he opened an Italian Restaurant, Antonio’s (also on Franklin Avenue) in Belleville. Mr. Iovino was chosen as the 2012 Belleville Italian Man of the Year by the Nutley-Belleville Columbus Day and Italian Heritage Month Parade Committee.
He is survived by his children Ralph Iovino of Vermont, and Ellen Iovino of Connecticut; and his sisters Fiorina (Flora) Calandra of Morris Plains, and Michelina De Riggi of Toms River. He is also survived by his 13 loving nieces and nephews.
Mr. Iovino is predeceased by his wife Rose Anna “Ann” (nee Corbo) Iovino (Sept., 2018), his parents Francesco and Serafina (nee Esposito) Iovino, his son-in-law Larry Ruhl, his brother Ralph Iovino and his sister Anna Iovino.
